Yolo
County Sheriff’s Department
is located between Highway 5 and
Highway 113 in the city of Woodland,
CA, the county seat. Much of Yolo
County’s 1040 square miles
is unincorporated and the crime
prevention and law enforcement
responsibility of Sheriff Prieto
and his staff.
The
Sheriff’s Department is
divided into three major divisions:
Administrative and Support Services,
Detention Services, and Field
Operations. The Administrative
Division is the central coordinating
point for the Sheriff-Coroner,
Undersheriff, and the department’s
management staff. The Field Operations
Division is the uniformed patrol
force of the county. This Division
also maintains the Civil Section
which works in conjunction with
the Courts to serve the public
and the Animal Services Section
which is responsible for operation
of the Yolo County Animal
Services shelter
and animal control services.
The Detention Division, under
the direction of the Yolo County
Sheriff, is charged with the
responsibility of maintaining
a jail for the county.

mission of the Yolo County Sheriff's
Department is to uphold the law
through the investigation and
enforcement of criminal and civil
law; to provide leadership and
law enforcement assistance to
allied law enforcement agencies;
to deliver consistent and humane
treatment to those placed in
our care and custody; to perform
these responsibilities in a manner
that is responsive to the needs
of our community and is faithful
to the Constitution of the United
States and the Constitution of
the State of California.

for all residents and visitors. We recognize,
